Recycled polymers can contain higher levels of contamination, fillers, glass fibers, mineral additives, carbon black, pigments and other abrasive particles. These can significantly increase die-hole and die-face wear. The correct die material, carbide specification and knife material should therefore be selected based on the actual polymer formulation rather than simply the machine model.<\/p><\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

Knife life depends on more than die condition. Knife material, hardness, bevel geometry, blade-to-die contact, cutter alignment, holder condition, cutting pressure and polymer abrasiveness can all affect wear. A change in formulation or throughput can also substantially change knife life.<\/p>
